The CCTT participated in the OSJD Commission Meeting on freight transportation titled "Coordination of Freight Transportation Volumes in International Traffic" held at the Sirius Federal Territory in Sochi, Russia, by invitation of Russian Railways (RZD).

The meeting focused on:

  • Approval of freight transportation plans for 2026
  • Review of performance results for 2025
The event brought together over 140 participants from 10 countries in the format of 21 working groups. Among the participants were authorized representatives of railways from:

  • Afghanistan
  • Belarus
  • Vietnam
  • Iran
  • Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK)
  • Mongolia
  • Russia
  • Turkmenistan
  • Uzbekistan
Key Outcomes and Agreements

During the event, participants not only согласовали freight transportation volumes for the current year but also developed a set of measures to ensure them. Key decisions included:

  • Reduction of wagon and locomotive dwell time at border stations through strict adherence to the International Goods Traffic Agreement (SMGS) and its Additional Conditions
  • Improvement of transportation uniformity
  • Timely train formation
  • Acceleration of locomotive and wagon turnover
  • Routing of bulk cargo transportation (coal, coke, oil, petroleum products, metallic ore, fertilizers, timber, etc.)
A significant decision was made to transition to paperless technology for transportation volume coordination. This innovation will:

  • Accelerate coordination processes
  • Reduce administrative burden on participants
  • Increase data transparency and traceability
  • Decrease costs associated with paper documentation
Importance for International Logistics

The agreements reached will significantly impact Eurasian logistics in 2026. The optimization of border station processes and the implementation of digital technologies will contribute to the following improvements:

  • Enhanced capacity of railway corridors
  • Reduced cargo delivery times
  • Increased reliability of international transportation
  • Strengthened position of rail transport as an environmentally friendly and efficient mode of cargo delivery

Additional benefits include:

  • Improved efficiency of cross-border operations
  • Streamlined logistics processes
  • Greater transparency in transportation management
  • Cost optimization across the supply chain
