The International Coordinating Council on Trans-Eurasian Transportation (CCTT) is taking part in the OSJD–ESCAP Joint Interagency Meeting dedicated to facilitating railway border crossing procedures. CCTT member companies represented at the meeting include JSC "UTLC ERA", LLC "Global Group Holding", and LLC "Industrial Logistics". The event is being held in Tbilisi from September 8 to 10, hosted by JSC "Georgian Railway".
During the meeting, participants are discussing a range of issues aimed at developing international railway transportation:
• practical measures to remove barriers on international transport routes;
• improving customs and border procedures;
• implementing digital solutions and electronic information exchange between railways and control authorities;
• harmonizing approaches of participating countries in transportation documentation processing;
• synchronizing the work of control services at junction points;
• strengthening cybersecurity in the railway sector;
• developing new measures to enhance international freight transportation and simplify transit procedures.
In his speech, CCTT Secretary General Mikhail Goncharov emphasized the importance of joint work: "The cooperation between CCTT, UN ESCAP, and OSJD is based on common goals and aspirations to make international transport corridors even more attractive and efficient for global trade, ensuring reliable connections between East and West, North and South. About 30% of the total time in international transportation is spent on customs formalities and document replacement. Simplifying border crossing procedures can have an effect more than twice as significant as reducing customs tariffs. Therefore, priority attention should be given to projects aimed at creating seamless freight logistics."
